Valerie Diaz,
I began my Montessori journey in 1994 as a Pre-k four teacher under the guidance of Joan Ingram. The approach of teaching as the student led changed my perspective as I taught my children to become responsible and independent. In 2011 I began acquiring my Montessori credentials as well as my directors certificate. In 2015 I began having more responsibilities along side Dorothy Mainka as I supported her role as a director. In August of 2016 I became owner and director of the Montessori School. Challenging but rewarding transition becoming director of the school. In 2020 when COVID shut down all businesses was a year that taught me why I do what I do. My main goal was to make sure that all of our families were well while getting hit with sickness. At Montessori we made sure our families had food and cleaning supplies to quarantine safely. We kept in communication with families to make sure there wasn’t anything we could help with. I informed myself of all resources that were offered for small businesses to keep all employees working and safe during this time. Running a business is a team effort. I couldn’t do what I am passionate about without the support of my husband or children. They don’t just help in the background but they are willing to come in and put their own sweat into what it takes for the Montessori School to thrive.

I have spent the last six years at Montessori School. Initially, I served as an aide in Mrs. Grant's four-year-old class, which provided me with valuable insights into teaching. Presently, I work alongside Mrs. Diaz. My passion for teaching was inspired by my mom, Mrs. Diaz. Growing up, I witnessed her unwavering dedication and love for making a positive impact on children's lives.

I’m 19 and pursuing a degree in Early Education. I love expressing myself and helping children to learn to do the same.

I began my teaching journey as a volunteer at Lamar and Carver Early Education Center. After graduating from high school and Odessa College in May 2021 with an associate degree in child development, I started working at Lamar as a Pre-K 4 teacher's aide in August 2021. During the 2022-2023 school year, I transitioned to a Pre-K teacher position at a childcare center. Since December 2023, I have been working at the Montessori School of Odessa, where I initially served as the Pre-K 4 teacher. I am currently pursuing my director's credential, eager to support Mrs. Diaz, the Montessori staff, parents, and children in a leadership role.
